Treating Children

Do Children need Chiropractic care too?

Dr. Boren encourages chiropractic care for children. Often people ask whether it is appropriate for children to receive chiropractic care. Not only is it appropriate, it is necessary for the proper development of a child’s spine.

Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked for vertebral subluxation. Naturally, chiropractic adjusting procedures are adapted for the infant’s spine.   In fact, our chiropractic adjusting techniques are modified to fit every child’s size, weight, and unique spinal problem.

Many childhood health complaints that are brushed off can be traced to the spine. Health problems that emerge in adulthood could often be prevented by having your children’s spine checked by a chiropractor early. Most parents report that their children enjoy their chiropractic adjustments and are healthier than their peers.

Given the tremendous amounts of falls and mishaps children experience as they grow, there is a great probability of minor injuries occurring. We call them minor injuries, because in most cases, children get the type of injuries that are not causing them significant pain at the time of injury. However, these minor injuries, if left untreated can accumulate over the years until such time that a more significant health issue is evident.

Health is not just the absence of pain… but a state of wellness.

Gentle chiropractic adjustments of a child’s spine will aid in keeping the spine mobile and in its best possible functional position. This, along with the proper additional support from the child’s pediatrician allows for a team approach to healthcare. This is an approach that works well for the child because various different health philosophies and treatment are used for the child’s best health interest.

Why do children need Chiropractic Care?

Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked for vertebral subluxation complex. Later learning to walk, ride a bicycle, and other childhood activities can cause spinal problems. While a bandage and comforting words can help a skinned knee, the unseen damage to the child’s spine is the unique domain of a chiropractic doctor. Many childhood health complaints that are brushed off as “growing pains” can often be traced to the spine. Regular chiropractic checkups can help avoid many of the health complaints seen later in adults.
